Weekly Highlights

After a relaxing half-term our students all came back with new energy and motivation, ready to get started!

Just days after Halloween down in the D.T. area all machines are set to “Christmas” now! In preparation for the Christmas markets the students have started cutting, drilling, designing, prepping and making all sorts of great things!

Ever wondered which supermarket is actually the cheapest?
This week our students on the FoodWise ASDAN course had a look at just that. They researched and compared 2 supermarkets each and were quite surprised by some of the price differences they found! One student even said he’d go home and suggest to his mum she should switch!

In the art area students started their new topic for this term by researching the origin of wreaths and making some designs. Some preferred classic designs while others had a look at some crazy, creative wreaths, too! But regardless of their preference they all learned something new about this lovely tradition.

This term’s PHSE topic is all about the community! Two students went exploring today and tried to identify community buildings and services that benefit Calne.

Special congratulations to two of our students who have achieved amazing things this week!
Outreach student HB had a college interview and got accepted and AF was very proud of completing Maths exams on Wednesday that he’s been working towards for months!
All of us here are super proud of you two!

This week we also got to welcome a new member of staff, Maria! We’re looking forward to all the amazing things she’ll be able to bring to SB!

With an exciting and productive week behind us, we’re all excited for the term ahead!
