Weekly Highlights

This week our students have continued working hard on their Maths and English skills, but there’s so much more to be learned!
This week our students worked really hard to work on a variety of skills.

On Wednesday we had a wonderful cooking lesson with our visitor! AW’s grandmother came to SB and showed our students how to cook a Caribbean stewed chicken to support them with an AQA cooking award and their ASDAN FoodWise course. Thank you so much! It smelled amazing all day.

Continuing with his FoodWise course PH worked really hard and created a food label that includes all relevant information. He was really pleased with his work, as he should be!

On a mission to find something new to try JCB gave programming with BBC MicroBits a go… and absolutely smashed it!
Over the course of this and last week he spent hours carefully designing, programming, testing and debugging a programme that lets the user play Rock, Paper, Scissors and track their score. He then added a function that lets the user switch to a dice generator with the press of a single button, and then back to the Rock, Paper, Scissors game.
Have a look at his code and see if you can understand how he managed to do that!

Not all highlights have to be academic achievements!
Over the course of this week our students spent some of their lunch and brunch time working together to complete a really tricky jigsaw puzzle! Before we knew it they had completed the whole thing!

But not just our students at SB made great progress this week!
One of our Outreach students made the brave step to leave the house and took a trip to big Tesco, where he navigated around the shop and bought himself some little treats. Marion was really impressed with him!

We hope you have a good weekend!
