As part of our Careers Week, students were exceptionally lucky to visit Chalklands Vets in Calne for an inspiring and informative experience exploring careers within the veterinary profession.
The visit gave students a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of a busy veterinary practice and discover what life is really like for veterinary professionals. From the moment we arrived, the team at Chalklands Vets made everyone feel incredibly welcome and were eager to share their knowledge and passion for animal care.
During the tour, students explored many different areas of the practice, learning about the wide variety of animals treated every day and the procedures carried out by the veterinary team. They were able to see consultation rooms, treatment areas, and equipment used to diagnose and care for animals. The staff explained the important roles played by vets, veterinary nurses, reception staff, and support teams, helping students understand the many career pathways available within the industry.
One of the highlights of the visit was hearing first-hand accounts from professionals working in the field. Students learned about the qualifications and skills needed to pursue a veterinary career, as well as the rewards and challenges of working with animals. The team also discussed opportunities for work experience and further study, giving students valuable advice for the future.
The visit was both educational and inspiring, providing students with a real insight into the dedication, compassion, and teamwork involved in veterinary care. Many students left feeling motivated and excited about future career possibilities within animal care and veterinary science.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone at Chalklands Vets for giving up their time to support our Careers Week and for providing such an engaging and memorable experience for our students.
