This Term at SB

The final term of the year is all about our students really finding and pursuing their own interests with all the skills they have built during their time with us.

Core Subjects

As usual we continue to offer core subject support to our students where it is wanted and needed! Everyone learns in a different way at a different pace so our students use a variety of different learning methods including the online platform IXL, structured functional skills lessons, workbooks or structured ASDAN courses at their individual levels.

ASDAN

Several of our students have been working hard and are continuing to work hard on a variety of different ASDAN Short Courses. Many of them have been working on them for months and have earned lots of credits towards their certificates!
Some of the courses our students are working on include Food Wise, Construction, Expressive Arts and more!

DT & ICT

Over the past few terms our students have built a variety of skills and developed their interest in design and technology, so this term many of our students are actually working on completely different projects!
Building a Dance, Dance, Revolution machine, laser-cutting cartoon characters, building planters and making working speakers with individually-designed cases, creating video games, designing engines and starting fashion brands are only some of the things our students are taking on this term!

Thrive

As a Thrive embedded provision all our students are offered bespoke one-to-one Thrive sessions with one of our licensed Thrive Practitioners. Whether it’s building emotional resilience, strengthening social skills or just providing a space to talk, our Thrive room is a safe space for any student who steps into it. 🌈

PSHE

After all working on the emotional wellbeing chapter of the ASDAN PSHE book last term, this term our students are working on different chapters that they have chosen because they feel they would like to learn more. Some students are looking at healthy living, others at the risks of alcohol and others at careers and future planning.

Art: Henna

This term’s art topic focuses on Henna and its uses.
Our students will learn about the cultural significance of Henna designs and what certain designs and symbols represent. They will also get an idea how Henna ink can be used to create their own designs and artwork.

We can’t wait to see what the next few months will bring and how our students will embrace this term’s topics and challenges!
