Learning is not just for our students!

We encourage our students to be curious explorers, active learners and resilient problem-solvers. And here at SB we practice what we preach!

“Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.”

Anthony J. D’Angelo

Alongside their work at SB our staff regularly and continuously stay curious and continue their own learning and personal and professional development.
Here are some recent and current qualifications and courses our staff have been working on:

THRIVE Wellbeing Leadership accreditation – Zoe
This course will help Zoe to analyse behaviour and produce skill surveys to make targeted action plans and deliver thousands of practical strategies and activities to use in our provision.
Additionally, she will be able to collect evidence for continuous improvement within her team ensuring continued good practice throughout SB Mentoring 👍🏼

Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead Certification – Louiza & Victoria
While promoting good mental health is important to all of us here, it is important to keep improving and monitoring how we do things!
This course will help Louiza and Victoria ensure that appropriate strategies and procedures are in place where needed, for both students and staff!

Lego Therapy – Lucy & Zoe
Lego Therapy involves building and strengthening team-working and communication skills by building LEGO sets cooperatively with other students.
They will be able to deliver sessions to our students that may benefit from it!

MSc Applied Neuropsychology – Jen
For the past year Jen has been back at uni part-time studying for a Master’s degree. She’s been learning about human brains, how they work and what can be done if someone sustains brain damage. In addition the course covers neurodevelopment, which will enable her to support SB with continuing using an evidence-based approach to supporting our students.

BA Criminology – Tyler
Tyler has been working on his Bachelor’s degree in criminology, which explores the causes, consequences and prevention of crime. It covers key areas such as criminal justice systems, criminological theories, law, policing, victimology, and forensic psychology.

Whatever our students teach us – everyone
All our students come to us with unique interests, views, knowledge and passions. And while we teach them, they also teach us a lot!
Everyday we learn new things together, figure out new ways to do and say things. When I say no two days at SB are alike, I really do mean it!

And of course we always keep learning from one another!
