Just like that another term has flown by and our students have had fun, worked hard and achieved awesome things! Here’s some of the things our students got up to this term:
The S is for Super…
This term our student-built pinball machine got a makeover!
Our students got the spray paints out and created an amazing space design…but that was not all! Our students had the great idea to recreate themselves and staff as superheroes inspired by the TV show “Invincible” and then turn those designs into vinyl stickers. The designs came out so cool!
…or maybe for Sunshine…
As soon as the sun is out so are we! This term we took a trip to the local park, went for plenty of walks in the area, found interesting bugs and took the camera up to see the lambs.
…and the B is for Barn!
Starting this term we were finally able to welcome both new staff and new students at our new second location “SBMentoring @TheBarn” in Rowde. With a focus on Post-16 and Post-18 pathways, students there can focus on vocational prospects like bricklaying, photography and catering & hospitality in a calm and supportive environment.
Careers Week
Through the support of lovely local businesses we were able to put together a careers week for our students.
Over the course of 5 days our students could learn from the lovely staff at The Treatment Room, Benham Bodyworks, LPB Fitness, MCS Construction and Chalkland Vets. Our students were able to gain an insight into different jobs and business ownership, ask questions and complete hands on challenges!
Thank you so much to everyone involved!
Workin’ hard, not hardly working!
It would be impossible to celebrate every single time our students work hard, show their knowledge, persevere with a tricky task, smash their core subjects or show great curiosity about something new. But that doesn’t mean we won’t try!
More often than not, when you walk into a room you’ll find a student, eyes on the task, working hard, and we’re so proud of each and every one of them for taking such an active role in their learning.
Determination, Interviews, Revision & Exams
This term many of our students have proven that just because they don’t attend mainstream education full time, doesn’t mean they can’t succeed!
Our students really took their future into their own hands and between college and job interviews, relentless revision and GCSE exams we have been nothing short of in awe of their determination.
Trying to fit all the amazing things our students have done this term into one post would be impossible but we hope you enjoyed a little insight into the highlights of this term!
And just like that we’re going into the last half-term of the school year. We hope you enjoy the sunshine and a well deserved break before the final sprint to the summer holidays!
