AF had a rewarding design session today as he began creating a cone and fin system for a water rocket project. The session combined creativity, engineering thinking, and advanced CAD techniques.
Using Onshape, AF designed the key components needed for the rocket, focusing on the cone and fin structure. These elements are essential for improving the rocket’s stability and overall performance during flight, giving the project a real engineering focus.

Learning Advanced CAD Techniques
During the session, AF was introduced to the rotate and circular pattern tools. These techniques helped him understand how symmetrical and repeated features can be created efficiently within a CAD environment. Applying these tools allowed him to refine the rocket design while also building a stronger understanding of professional modelling workflows.
This was a very positive session for AF. The project challenged him to think carefully about both design and function, and it was great to see his confidence growing as he explored more advanced 3D modelling tools and techniques. The water rocket project has exciting potential, and today was a brilliant step forward.
