Children’s Mental Health Week: Day 1

This week is Place2Be‘s Children’s Mental Health Week!

In partnership with Here4You and supported by the Walt Disney Company and the Inside Out 2 characters they are hosting 5 days of spreading awareness, building resilience and talking about children’s mental health.

The wellbeing and mental health of the students here at SB, and that of all children and young people here and elsewhere is very important to us, so watch this space for a week of resources, information and activities.

Why do we need a Children’s Mental Health Week?

Children and young people are often overlooked when we think about mental health. It’s easy to think children have it easy or have nothing to worry about, but that is far from the truth!
Recent statistics however suggest that 1 in 5 children may have a diagnosable mental health problem.
Navigating growing up can be tricky and every child can benefit from developing mental wellbeing skills and resilience that will help them deal with the ups and downs of life!

The theme of this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is “Know Yourself, Grow Yourself!” and encourages children to be self-aware and build resilience through acknowledging their emotions and taking accountability for their mental health.
