It’s the first term back after the summer holidays and we’ve started off strong!
This term we got to welcome both new students and new staff, as well as many returning students. Everyone got settled in really well and worked really hard to already achieve great things. Have a look at what our students were up to:
Once again we started the year off delicious! Our students have been alternating between theory and practical weeks. They put great effort into learning about food labelling, nutrition and food safety and delighted us all with amazing treats that they were all too often willing to share! Especially the week before the half-term our students really made us smile with their silly and delicious Halloween themed creations!
An important skill for independence is being able to safely and confidently travel, but especially public transport can be incredibly daunting. This term many of our students have slowly worked towards taking the local busses. They read bus time tables, scouted out the local bus stops and some, with support, took the bus into Chippenham and navigated back just in time for lunch!
This term things got spooky! With Halloween coming up our students have been individually working on Halloween-themed art projects that are then being combined into one big spooky canvas. Each student used their own abilities and interests to create a truly unique contribution to the shared project!
To investigate the ever-changing autumn weather our students combined a variety of science and engineering skills to tackle this term’s STEM topic: Weather and Climate. ☀️☁️🌧️
Over the course of the term they engineered their own weather stations, learned about the climate and practised curious exploration and effective problem-solving!
This term students some of our students tested their patience with some fishing! Using opportunities available locally and experienced staff guidance students were able to practice a variety of angling skills and actually caught some fish! 🐟
It’s been an absolutely amazing start to the term and we can’t wait to see what our students will get up to next term! We hope you’re as excited as we are!
