Weekly Highlights

Last week ideas and creativity could be found in every part of the building!

Have a look at what our students were up to here:

Last week creativity was through the roof!
TE created an absolutely stunning rose, JW cleverly used coloured studio lights to make his Spider-Man action figure look extra dramatic, three other students created beautiful positive word art using water colours and PNO used brilliant colours and textures to create mysterious sea creatures.
At this rate we’ll run out of display space soon!

Continuing this term’s bread theme, last week our students cooked delicious flatbread. But not just plain flatbread! Each students created their own herb blend, some chose garlic or olives to add, some made dips to go with it to create individually delicious dishes that made the whole kitchen smell incredible!
Try it for yourself:

Big projects require big plans!
One student had the great idea of making a horse-shaped planter, but a complex shape like that needs careful preparation, planning and measurement!

“What’s this thing?” Was frequently asked this week when students and staff walked past this strange contraption in the workshop area. The answer is that this is a frame that will be used for rug tufting! With the right equipment we’ll be able to make fuzzy and creative rugs!
Of course the frame itself was also built by our students.

Algorithms can be quite a tricky concept to understand, but using them to make MicroBit Pets makes it fun and worthwhile!
LG and TE gave their MicroPets little faces and created simple algorithms to give them behaviours like laughing when they’re shaken or falling asleep when they’re upside down. LG made his blink every 6 seconds to make it more lifelike! What a great idea.
