From Social Media Strategy to Game Development: Another Week of Digital Skills in Action

Social Media Management & E-Safety
One of our students kicked off a new learning journey into Social Media Management and Strategy. The session involved researching user demographics across major platforms, exploring different content posting styles, and comparing the reach and user counts of various social media networks. They also took part in a practical e-safety exercise, investigating how quickly their own social media accounts could be discovered through a simple Google search a powerful reminder of our digital footprints and the importance of managing our online presence.

Game Design in Roblox Studio

Two of our students continued making excellent progress on their independent game projects in Roblox Studio. One student pushed through brilliantly, building on a game they’ve been designing both at home and in sessions. They made significant edits and additions, and also got hands-on experience using Roblox Studio’s built-in AI Assistant to help generate more complex backend code, learning how to craft effective prompts and use AI as a development tool along the way.

Programming with Godot Engine

One student delivered a standout session, demonstrating excellent programming skills across both Godot Engine and Visual Studio Code. They were actively developing and debugging a click-per-second (CPS) game, writing GDScript to handle click tracking and UI elements, managing project files, and troubleshooting cache issues to optimise performance. They made significant progress in understanding core game mechanics, implementing mathematical calculations for measuring input rates, and building interactive interface components such as buttons and leaderboards. A really impressive display of applied programming knowledge.
