@TheBarn is a structured, supportive provision designed for Post 16 & post 18 students who require a more personalised and practical approach to further education.
The provision focuses on developing vocational skills, confidence, and independence, supporting progression into meaningful post-16 & 18 pathways.
Post-16 Provision (Ages 16–18)
“A foundation for future pathways”
Our Post-16 programme supports students in developing core skills, confidence, and direction as they transition from school into further education, training, or employment.
Students will:
- Explore vocational interests through hands-on learning
- Build confidence, communication, and social skills
- Develop independence and everyday life skills
- Begin to understand workplace expectations

Post-18 Provision (Ages 18+)
“Preparing for independence and employment“
Our Post-18 offer focuses on progression into adulthood, with a stronger emphasis on real-world application, employability, and independence.
Students will:
- Work towards individual outcomes such as employment, volunteering, or supported pathways
- Engage in meaningful vocational activities and work-based learning
- Develop employability skills and workplace readiness
- Increase independence in daily living and decision-making

Programme Offer
We currently deliver Open Awards accredited qualifications in:
- Construction (Level 1 & 2 Bricklaying)
- Hair & Beauty (Level 1 & 2)
- Catering & Hospitality (Level 1 & 2)
- Maths & English Functional Skills (EL3 – L2)
- More vocational options to come (L1 & 2)
All programmes are delivered through a combination of:
- Practical, hands-on learning
- Small group teaching
- Individualised mentoring support
The project staff work closely with their mentees and other professionals using a holistic and inclusive approach to effect positive and sustainable changes that will improve life chances, increase self-worth, and heighten aspirations.
